New GPU architecture at AMD UDNA/RDNA 5 appears in code leakage

AMD is preparing its new next -generation GPU architecture. Although the official name has not yet been confirmed, rumors indicate that the company can transition from RDNA to UDNA, a unified GPUS architecture. The kernel level source code already reveals this architecture as “GFX13”.

The information is from the @kepler_L2 leak, according to which the GFX13 code can mean UDNA or RDNA 5, but the nomenclature is not yet defined. The new architecture features a feature called “Wavegroup”, which may be related to multiple wavefronts, groups of threads that usually range from 32 to 64.

The great differential of UDNA is that It will be implemented in both dedicated GPUs and in CPUs with integrated video of the next generation of AMD. The current architecture RDNA 4 is exclusive to dedicated GPUS at least so far.

Zen 6 and UDNA -based products should use the TSMC N3E process and there is still no confirmation on the presence of UDNA GPUS integrated in the Zen 6 CPUS. Most Zen 6 chips should include the RDNA 3.5 architecture, already used in Strix Point, Strix Halo and Krackan Point.

Different from AMD approach with RDNA 4, which did not focus on the high performance segment, UDNA products should target high capacity GPUS. Although there is still little information available, It is speculated that mass production of UDNA GPUS begins in the second quarter of 2026.

Until the release of UDNA, AMD will continue to expand its RDNA 4 line, including new models from the RX 9000 series. Two GPUs have already been released, and the next big announcement will be from the RX 9060 XT, scheduled to occur during the 2025 Computex next week.

AMD situation

In the last disclosure of financial results, the company showed growth in the CPUS sector, but sales of its GPUs disappointed. Another positive news for AMD is that Radeon RX 9070 XT sold 10 times more than previous generations in the first week. This suggests that the company will be able to increase its presence in the game industry and justify investments in the segment.
