MSI has announced a special edition of its RTX 4070 Super Gaming Slim to celebrate 20 years of World of Warcraft. In addition to the different look of the card with details evoking the game, the commemorative edition comes with five different backplates that the user can change whenever they want.
Each RTX 4070 Super backplate is themed after a different WoW expansion, as you can see in the images below:
Using the card without the backplate is also an option, showing its body in blue with more details of the 20 years of Warcraft and the MSI logo. The guys at VideoCardz also point out that there is an air vent that the backplates cover, and this can affect heat dissipation a little.
“MSI and Blizzard are celebrating the 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft and the release of The War Within with the GeForce RTX 4070 Super 12G Gaming Slim World of Warcraft Edition,” the manufacturer said. “Gamers can customize this graphics card with magnetic backplates that showcase artwork from each expansion. Stay tuned for exciting events, content, and special offers you won’t want to miss.”
In technical terms, the RTX 4070 Super Gaming Slim is MSI’s entry-level version of this GPU model. That is, it maintains Nvidia’s nominal clocks of 2,475MHz base and 2,490MHz boost.
WoW’s RTX 4070 Super could arrive with a PC Mod
The custom plaque is part of the World of Warcraft anniversary campaign that MSI and Blizzard are running with the hashtag #MSIxWorldofWarcraft. Players have until September 17 to share their memories of the game on social media using the hashtag.
The initiative has already reached 40,000 participants, and the RTX 4070 Super special was the prize. If a total of 60,000 people make posts by the deadline, MSI will prepare an entire PC Mod to celebrate WoW’s 20th anniversary.

Therefore, the manufacturer has not yet given details on whether these products will be available for purchase or will only be available as event prizes. It has also not been announced when these items will be distributed.
