MSI launches four new RTX 4070 Ventus E1, with GDDR6

MSI has jumped on the bandwagon of the new RTX 4070 with GDDR6 memory with the launch of its new Ventus E1 line. As well as the traditional models in the series, we have Ventus 2x cards with two fans and Ventus 3x with three fans, each with options with or without overclocking, totaling four products.

Taking the same stance that has appeared in other AIBs, MSI also chose to highlight on the box that the new RTX 4070 uses GDDR6 instead of GDDR6X. However, the company wanted to make the label a little more discreet, so it is not on the front of the packaging. Buyers will need to pay attention to the sides of the box, where it says 12GB GDDR6 for the new RTX 4070 Ventus E1.

Aside from the difference in memory speed, which goes from 21Gbps to 20Gbps, the specs should remain the same for the cards. The non-OC models of the new MSI Ventus reach 2490MHz, and the overclocked versions arrive running at 2520MHz.

The folks at VideoCardz found the price of one of the models, the Ventus 2X E1, which appeared for €582 in an online store in Germany. According to the publication, the price is €46 higher than the RTX 4070 with GDDR6X in the same store – and it’s not the first time something like this has happened.

It’s possible that cards with GDDR6 instead of GDDR6X memory will become the new standard. NVIDIA doesn’t require its partners to indicate this information on the product boxes and maintains that the performance is basically the same.

Meanwhile, the company’s GPU partners have launched products at the same price or even slightly more expensive than the RTX 4070 already available, as if they were really new versions with advantages.
