MSI this week revealed its newest mini PC, the Cubi 5 1M. This compact computer brings simple hardware for basic everyday usability, while focusing heavily on portability. With a total volume of less than 1L, the product is proportionally smaller than a carton of milk, not taking up desk space at home or in the office.
The MSI Cubi 5 1M offers three processor options, in different price ranges. Interested parties will find the mini PC equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 3 100U, or a Core Ultra 5 120U or a Core Ultra 7 150U.
The company does not inform the memory and capacity options that will be available, but highlights that the compact computer has space for an M.2 2280 NVMe (PCIe 4.0) SSD drive and a 2.5” drive. For RAM memory, there are two DDR-5200 SODIMM slots, supporting up to 64GB.
Lots of connections on a small PC
The Cubi 5 measures just 124 x 124 x 53.7mm, for a total volume of 0.83L. Still, it incorporates an interesting amount of varied connections.
On the front we have two 10Gbps USB-A ports, accompanied by a Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) with integrated DisplayPort. The traditional analog connection for headphones, also known as P2, also appears.
Going to the back we can see two other 10Gbps USB-A ports, alongside two Ethernet connections, one 2.5G and one 1G. For video, an HDMI 2.1 port and a DisplayPort 1.4 complete the mini PC’s I/O.
MSI makes it easy to mount the Cubi 5 behind your monitors
The Cubi 5 1M comes with a 75 x 75mm and 100 x 100mm VESA hole so that it can be hung behind the monitor, something common for such small computers.

The difference here, however, is that MSI’s new mini PC is compatible with its Power Link technology, which allows power to be supplied to the device directly by connecting to monitors that support the feature.

Unfortunately, MSI doesn’t usually release a suggested retail price on its new products, so we don’t know the MSRPs for the different Cubi 5 variants.
