MSI BIOS Update to AMD AM5 optimizes 256GB from RAM and supports “future CPU”, but which one?

AMD prepares a new CPU that is expected to arrive soon in sockets AM5, according to a recent BIOS update offered by MSI. The update, which arrives as AGESA 1.2.0.3E mentions in its Changelog support to a “future CPU”, but does not specify the model.

The information is being released by Chi11eddog, which has a history of MSI leaks. We can see that the update is geared towards motherboards in the 800 series, which includes X870, X870E and B850 chipsets, the latest options for AMD processors.

It is worth mentioning that the first highlight in the Changelog list is 256GB RAM capabilities optimization in four slots. Modules using components made by Samsung, Micron and Sk-Hynix should work better at speeds up to 6,400mt/s.

What is AMD’s “future CPU”?

As might be expected, the mention of “supporting a future CPU” generated speculation among AMD fans. While some expect the company to bring some news on its main desktop processor line, the Ryzen 9000, a well -known “leak” raises a different possibility.

Kepler, hardware insider with a good track of rumors, says that the “future CPU” in question would be a strix -based desktop version or Gorgon Point. It is important to emphasize that Gorgon Point is a Strix Refresh, not yet officially released.

Zen 6 is still distant

Whatever AMD’s “future CPU” mentioned in the new version of AGASA, we are hardly talking about a Zen 6 processor.

The next generation of the company’s CPUS architecture is scheduled for next year, and is due to make its debut in the EPYC “Venice”, already confirmed in the TSMC 2NM process.
