MSI Announces RTX 5070 Shadow 2x, its 19th model 5070

MSI revealed this week its RTX 5070 Shadow 2x. As the name suggests, it is a two-faced black plate in a design that abandons the RGB lights in exchange for something more discreet and “clean”. The GPU has a basic version and an OC, reaching the number 19 between MSI RTX 5070.

MSI premiered its new Shadow line last month, with RTX 5080 Shadow 3x versions and 5070 Ti. 3x indicates three fans, but visually speaking this is the only difference in design between last month’s plates and this week’s release.

The MSI RTX 5070 Shadow 2x OC brings a slight overclocking over the GPU reference model. Leaving the box, the GPU reaches 2,542MHz, while the standard goes up to 2,510mHz. The user can also boost the clock of the video card a little more by the dedicated AIB software, the MSI Center. In this case, the GPU can reach 2,557mhz.

The new MSI plate is shorter in length than the 3x Shadow version, but keeps its thickness of 2.5 slots. It also uses the 12V-2 × 6 power connector and offers three displayport ports, accompanied by an HDMI.

Videocardz states that MSI’s new Shadow series should look for Nvidia’s suggested price (MSRP), along with its Ventus models. The company’s strategy seems to be just offering a different design and color in the segment.
