MSI afterburner will finally receive support for Radeon RX 9070 XT in his next beta

Popular Hardware Diagnostic and Overclocking software will finally be supported for Radeon RX 9070 XT. The platform developer officially announced that the next Beta -in -phase app update will reach the GPUS AMD RDNA generation.

It is important to emphasize that the afterburner is supported by MSI, but is not developed directly by the company. Who takes care of the app is Alexey Nicolaychuk, known as Unwinder in online forums. In a recent post, he explains that he had to purchase a RAdeon RX 9070 XT on his own to bring app support:

“As you know, due to some unknown reason MSI has decided to jump RDNA 4 and focus on making Nvidia’s GPUs only in this round. This means I don’t get MSI RDNA 4 hardware samples, so there is no support for MSI afterburner RX 9070,” explains the developer in free translation.

“But I decided to close this gap myself and got a 9070 XT from a third especially to add unofficial support to the app. So the next RDNA 4 support beta is right there, and MSI AB will be a little powercolor AB now.”

MSI also confirmed in March that it would not work with AMD RDNA 4 video cards. At the time only the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 were available, but it was clear that the decision would not change with the arrival of Radeon RX 9060.

The company has not offered details of its decision, and apparently nor its closest employees know why. What we know, however, is that the company is not saving in variety for RTX 50 models.
