MSI, in partnership with Guru3D, made available for download the latest version of its diagnostic software, the AFTERBURNER 4.6.6 BETA 5. The application build 16554 brings support for the RTX 50 series of video cards as its main news but also introduces other unpublished resources.
Among the news listed by Guru3D for the new version of the Afterburner, stand out:

The availability of the new version of the RTX 50 -compatible Afterburner also brings some important information to those who want to try it. Among them, MSI points out that “experimental support” is offered without guarantees, not yet official. In addition, the Hot Spot sensor for RTX 50 plates is not yet correctly compatible, and shows the fixed temperature of 255ºC constantly.
RTX 50 Series apparently has no hot spot sensor
Interestingly, Guru3D implies that it is the new version of the afterburner that still has no hot spot sensor in the RTX 50 series. However, it seems that NVIDIA itself removed the sensor from its GPUS at once.
Techpowerup reports show models from the RTX 5090 incompatible with Hot Spot detection, with the GPU-Z screen marking 255ºC, as with the Afterburner 4.6.6 Beta 5.

Nvidia has not officially spoken about it, and only RTX 5090 can have their reviews published at the moment. We will probably have to wait for the fall of embargo in the next models to confirm through third parties if the hot spot sensor is really gone throughout the RTX 50 series.
