MSI updated the Panel Protect function so that the system refresh every 24 hours. Originally, it was adjusted to update the pixels every 16 hours, but many players criticized the configuration, claiming that they interrupted their game sessions. After all, gamers rarely follow conventional work schedules.
The change was the company’s response to ensure more flexibility without compromising the durability of the panel. Panel Protect is one of the main functions of MSI Care technology, which performs a pixel refresh at fixed intervals.
With technology, the company offers 3 years warranty, provided that the resources embedded in the monitors are used. The change does not impact the monitor guarantee.

Firmware update

To enable the new configuration, Users will need to apply a firmware update. If this is not a problem, they can update to take advantage of the new flexibility, or wait for future improvements.
Pixel Refresh is automatically activated after 4 hours of continuous use. Previously, the user could postpone the update and, after 16 hours in a row, the system would force Refresh to preserve OLED’s health. The new adjustment to 24 hours brings greater convenience to gamers and professionals
As highlighted by MSI, the function occupies several minutes and the monitor needs to be connected to energy, obviously. If the player had exceeded 4 hours, but not at 16 hours or now 24 hours, the process starts automatically when turning off the monitor.
The update will come from May 2025.
Burn-in em OLED

Burn-in in OLED occurs when a static image is uninterrupted in an OLED panel for a long time. It usually happens at the sparkle peak, causing degradation of the organic materials used in the manufacture of these types of panels.
The resulting burn-in effect appears as ghosts of the static image, even when the image was changed. The main way to avoid burn-in is to make sure there are no static images or elements on the screen and adjusting sparkle peak levels.
The Panel Protect function is an active resource for pixel Shift when the monitor is connected for several periods. The Shift pixel moves the screen pixels at regular intervals. Thus, the images are not shown in the same position, thus avoiding a static image.
If the user prevents the operation of Panel Protect, MSI will not offer the warranty.
