Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 this week. But there are still millions of computers running this operating system, all over the world. That’s why Mozilla warned: Firefox will continue to be updated on Windows 10, and for a long time.
It’s not surprising. To this day, Firefox is compatible with Windows 7 and 8, for example, although browser updates for these systems are only focused on security.
On Windows 10, Firefox will continue to receive full updates, that is, those that involve not only the security aspect, but also performance optimizations and new features.
In practice, Mozilla will continue to provide the same versions of Firefox for Windows 10 that are targeted at Windows 11. It couldn’t be any different: the organization itself recognizes that, today, Windows 10 is the operating system that most concentrates users of the browser.
When will support for Firefox on Windows 10 end? Mozilla informs that there is still no firm date for this:
O Firefox no canal Release [versão padrão] will continue to support Windows 10 users even after Microsoft ends updates for the operating system. Mozilla hasn’t announced any end of support date for Windows 10, but if there is one, it will be several years away.

Mozilla encourages migration to Windows 11
On the same help page that communicates Firefox maintenance on Windows 10, Mozilla recommends migrating to Windows 11, if your computer is compatible with that version.
The reason for this is that, with the end of support by Microsoft, Windows 10 will no longer receive updates, and this could make the operating system vulnerable to security problems over time.
For those who maintain the old version, Mozilla recommends activating Windows 10 extended support, which will provide security updates for the operating system for one year. For organizations, extended support can be up to three years.
It is worth remembering that there are also campaigns that encourage migration to a Linux distribution, such as Zorin OS 18, which was launched on Tuesday, precisely on the last day of support for Windows 10 by Microsoft.
