According to research by Jon Pedie Research, GPUS deliveries grew 6% in 2024 compared to 2023, exceeding 251 million units sold. The numbers consider both integrated and independent GPUs.
Furthermore, research shows that GPU deliveries follow PC deliveries, which grew 1% in 2024 compared to 2023totaling around 262.7 million units, according to IDC.
Most commonly, GPU sales often outpace customer CPU sales, as almost all desktop and notebook processors have an integrated GPU. In other words, almost every time a user buys a computer with a dedicated GPU, they also purchase an integrated GPU.

What is most surprising is that both CPUs and GPUs saw an increase in sales in 2024, as the most common thing would be for users to purchase new CPUs and keep their old GPUs or the opposite.

In the first half of the year, the industry shipped 18.2 million graphics cards for desktop systems, a 46% increase over the same period in 2023according to JPR. However, graphics card shipments in Q3 2024 totaled 8.1 million units, down from 8.9 million units in Q3 2023.
In part, this is believed to be the result of inventory correction at AMD, as well as the end of the life cycles of the Ada Lovelace and RDNA 3 architectures. While discrete GPU shipments typically increase in the fourth quarter as gamers prepare for the release of new titles, this may not have been the case last year.
In other words, with announcements like those from NVIDIA that the next generation of GPUs is approaching, it may have led consumers not to buy new GPUs and wait for the launches. Even though consumers purchase older versions, it is normal for them to reduce in price with new releases.
Stable Market
Even with growth, It is reasonable to state that, in practice, the numbers were stable in 2024 compared to 2023. And it is unlikely that they will approach graphics card sales in 2022 or 2021 even with possible data updates.
It is possible to note that the number of system deliveries in 2024, based on IDC data, exceeds the number of integrated and standalone GPU deliveries reported by JPR. The data does not contradict itself because PC manufacturers buy CPUs and GPUs months before shipping these components inside their systems.
In the fourth quarter, manufacturers tend to slow down their purchases despite high sales, as the first quarter is generally a weak quarter for consumer PC sales. In other words, they don’t see the need to purchase because they don’t expect there to be a significant resale.
