Modder uses 12,000 btu air conditioner to cool PC and RTX 4090 wheel at 20ºC

A Chinese hardware content breeder known as Electrolytic Sodium Carbonate (ESC) created a PC refrigerated by a 12,000 BTU domestic air conditioner. Basically, modifications were made in the appliance for him to act as if it were the external radiator of the computer’s liquid cooling system. Thus, an RTX 4090 remained in just 20ºC even in stress tests.

The video card was accompanied by a Core I9-13900K and the same system was built to act in the cooling of the two components. Air conditioning, in turn, is a customized Xiaomi KFR-35GW. It measures 765 x 268 x 550mm – much larger than the entire computer cabinet.

According to Tom’s hardware translation, ESC points out in the video that the RTX 4090 was running 2ºC with the idle system, with a 12ºC hot spot. In stress tests such as Fummark and Aida System, temperatures increased to about 20ºC, with Hot Spot reaching 36ºC.

It draws attention in the video that the system was designed to also allow the installation of the air conditioner outside the house, which would not leave the situation so clumsy for practical use. It would only be more uncomfortable in the electricity bill, probably.

Those who enjoyed the video may have been curious to know how air conditioning cooling would work on the most powerful domestic GPU of the moment, the RTX 5090. The good news for these people is that RTX 4090 is only temporarily there.
