Modder creates cable with fuses to avoid accidents on his RTX 4090

A Reddit user who signs as Malcanore18 suffered the infamous 12VHPWR power connector problem by melting on his RTX 4090. Using his electrical knowledge, he decided to adopt a radical solution and simply created a fuse with GPU fuse. There are six in all that Modder considers safer not only to preserve his video card but also his safety.

“I don’t fall into this ‘user error’ talk or ‘wasn’t totally connected.’ I think this is just the company’s talk that they created to get the body out,” says Malcanore18 post on Reddit, free translation. “I believe the 4090 simply pulls more energy than the small plug pins can handle.”

The solution is not ideal, as the author himself recognizes. He explains that if RTX 4090 pull enough energy to burn a fuse, it will probably have to replace everything.
