Minisforum has announced its new MS-A1 system, the world’s smallest mini PC using the AMD AM5 platform. Measuring 170 x 173 x 1.6 mm and equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 8700G CPU, it promises to deliver high performance while taking up as little space as possible.
Although the AMD processor is one of the highlights, it can be exchanged if you want to make future upgrades to the next generations of CPUs (such as the Ryzen 9000 line, for example). In addition, it comes with integrated Radeon 780M graphics, with 12 GPU cores and a frequency of up to 2,900 MHz.
Additionally, Minisforum has also included a dedicated NPU with 16 TOPS for AI use with the MS-A1. In addition, the Ryzen 7 8700G processor is one of the flagship hardware of the Zen4 architecture, with 8 cores, 16 threads and a boost clock that can reach up to 5.1 GHz at 65W of TDP.
It also supports dual-channel high-speed DDR5 5200 MHz memory, with a capacity of up to 96 GB. The user will have access to four M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD slots with transfer speeds of up to 7000 MB/s. Its maximum storage capacity is 27TB.
Minisforum also claims that the MS-A1 supports both RAID0 and RAID1 – with the former enabling the mini PC to reach 14,000 MB/s transfer speeds, while the latter ensures data security and reliability.

Starting at $259, Minisforum’s MS-A1 has connectivity with up to three 8K displays simultaneously via its HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.0, and USB-4 outputs.
The user can also purchase an OCulink expansion, allowing them to further increase their performance when using a discrete desktop GPU – improving the results obtained both in gaming and in the creative process of editing images or videos.
In addition, Minisforum points out that the MS-A1 also has two 2.5G RJ45 network ports (WAN and LAN support) and a USB-4 port with a speed of 40 Gbps, facilitating connection and data transfer speed.
Its cooling system has two fans and four heat pipes, ensuring stable performance with noise levels of up to 37 dB.
