The telephone operator Algar began offering the Pix Automatic function, a new recurring payment method from the Central Bank launched in June. Customers can now set up a one-time payment via QR Code on invoices and in the app. The solution also allows you to define value limits, duration and blocks. The company explained to the Technoblog that the new feature will benefit 1.2 million customers.
The Central Bank launched Pix Automatic as a new recurring payment option and the functionality allows users to authorize the automatic charging of invoices, such as energy, water or telephone and internet services, once, without having to manually repeat the payment every month.
What is Automatic Pix?
The Pix Automatic function works more or less like a traditional automatic debit, but uses the Pix system to carry out transactions. After the first authorization made by the user, payment occurs automatically on the pre-defined dates.
Furthermore, the payer’s bank notifies the customer before the charge is made, allowing the amount to be verified.

Digital services such as video streaming were the first to join Pix Automatic, but the feature also allows bill payments to be paid – which should make it more popular over time.
How does Pix Automatic work at Algar?
Customers of the Algar operator can join Pix Automatic by scanning the Pix payment QR Code located on the invoice. With the first payment via Pix and confirmation on the Algar app and at the bank, subsequent debits are made automatically.
It is worth noting that the solution is valid for customers of any financial institution, including traditional or digital banks.

Gustavo Matsumoto, director of the Minas Gerais company, said in a statement that Pix Automático creates an “alternative for our customers to pay bills, completely digital and friction-free”. It also downloads invoices instantly, in order to update the balance and avoid late payments.
