Microcode 0x114 does not seem to resolve the performance of Intel Arrow Lake-S CPUs

The launch of the new Arrow Lake-S generation of Intel Core 200K processors frustrated some of the company’s users due to the performance of the components. Intel promised improvements in this aspect with a new microcode, 0x114, but now third-party tests indicate that the update still does not resolve the problem. On the contrary, in some situations there was a loss of performance after the update.

The CapFrameX profile shows some of the results from its tests with 0x114 on the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K. In the post, we can see that Cyberpunk 2077 loses performance in all aspects after the BIOS update. This is an average performance drop of around 18%. The post adds that he “lost patience” with the platform.

Another test that appears in the same post shows 80ns latency for memory. The value increased, according to a description by CapFrameX, which says that the same Intel processor had 69ns of latency before the update. It’s an increase of 14%, more or less.

Clearly, we need more testing on more platforms before declaring a widespread issue for Intel’s 0x114 microcode. The people at WCCFTech, however, put their hand on the credibility of this test.

Intel should offer more information on 0x114 soon

CES 2025 will not only be the event in which Intel will greatly expand its series of Core 200 processors. The company also intends to hold a press conference, according to WCCFTech.

In other words, the company will certainly have many questions to answer regarding the performance of the Arrow Lake-S line and, probably, also about its 0x114 microcode. Perhaps we will be informed if there is a problem in its implementation or if we will have to wait for another update to correct the processor problems.
