Meta will adopt a new guideline based on “AI-driven impact” in employee performance assessments from 2026. The message, sent this Thursday (11/13) and signed by Meta’s head of personnel, Janelle Gale, informed that employees will be evaluated according to the use of artificial intelligence to deliver results and increase productivity.
Although the metric is not yet formal for this year’s assessments, in the document, obtained by Business InsiderGale encouraged workers to include “AI-powered wins” in self-assessments, ensuring that exceptional impacts are already rewarded.
The company’s change follows a movement by other technology giants, such as Microsoft, Google and Amazon, which would also be pushing employees to use more AI.

To accelerate this adoption, Meta had already overhauled its hiring process, allowing candidates to use AI in code interviews, and launched an internal game called “Level Up”.
“As we move toward a native AI future, we want to recognize the people who are helping us get there faster,” Gale wrote in the memo.
In addition to evaluating the use of AI, the company will also use the technology to “facilitate” the evaluation process itself for this year’s evaluation cycle, which begins on December 8th. The company announced a few days ago that it will use the AI Performance Assistant.
According to the memo, employees will be able to use the internal assistant Metamate and even Gemini, from Google, to help write their self-assessment and feedback texts.


In October, Meta’s vice president of metaverse, Vishal Shah, had already spoken about an internal initiative called AI4P (AI for Productivity), which aims to multiply the team’s productivity by five, going beyond “small improvements”.
