MediaTek is focused on bringing its own chips for artificial intelligence, promising to dive headfirst into this market in the coming years. While we will see its processors for home Windows PCs with AI in 2025, they also guarantee that we will see versions aimed at the server market soon.
According to information from Taiwan Economic Daily, the corporation will use the ARM architecture and may become one of the first to use this platform for AI servers. Everything indicates that they will also use TSMC’s 3nm process – thus ensuring that they bring positive results.

MediaTek’s intention does not seem to clash with the market targeted by NVIDIA, focusing on mid-range chips rather than high-end models. It is a segment that has been growing steadily, as many companies start working with AI and do not have the money to invest in advanced hardware.
In this regard, they will focus on selling these processors to startups and low-power architecture servers – hoping to attract the attention of cloud service providers such as Microsoft, Google, Meta and others.
MediaTek’s roadmap for AI server chips proposes to close the project in the first half of 2025, sending some samples to its commercial partners during the second half of the year. Mass production of the hardware is expected to begin in 2026, with no estimates yet for when this will happen.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time, and perhaps not even the last, that MediaTek has promised to revolutionize the chip market. However, these latest statements stand out for “talking more and showing less.” They are producing, that’s a fact, but the question is whether the industry will have its doors open to them until that happens.
Since 2023, the corporation claims to be working with NVIDIA and ARM to take the lead from Qualcomm with its Snapdragon X Elite processors. Apparently, its products will only start reaching the market in 2025 – which could give it enough time for both AMD and Intel to improve and stay ahead.
It’s also important to note that MediaTek’s success in consumer and server chips will depend largely on market demand and corporate interest in the technology – and whether others can meet this demand before it even makes its products available.
