MediaTek announced this week the Kompanio Ultra line, new premium processors aimed at Chromebooks. The company promises to offer the most advanced options that users will be able to choose from Google’s accessible notebook segment.
Remember that MediaTek has already tried a Komponio line previously, released in 2021 also for Chromebooks. The chips have not become much popular, and now the company says it has decided to double the bet and really stand out with the ultra component version.

“We decided that if we are going to try again, we would not hold anything,” said Adam King, one of MediaTek’s executives. “We would launch absolutely the best we could do, even though I would necessarily sell tremendous volumes.”
What does Kompanio ultra offer?
Going to the technical part, the new MediaTek chips feature eight -core ARM -based CPUs made in the 3NM process. It is an ARM Cortex “Ultra -Performance” core at 3.62Ghz X925, three Cortex X4 performance centers and the other four ARM Cortex A720 for efficiency.
The charts are the 11-core immortalis-G925 integrated GPU that promises output for up to three 4K to 60Hz screens, something unusual when we talk about Chromebooks. The memory is LPDDR5X, as expected, and the manufacturer has not yet revealed the capacity.

As it was already inevitable, the Kompanio Ultra bring an NPU too, promising 50top performance. The number exceeds the minimum required by Microsoft to call a copilot plus PC notebook, so it can help Chromebooks compete in AI resources as well.
MediaTek says its flagship, the Komponio Ultra 910, surpasses the Intel Core Ultra 115U and 125U, with 18% more performance in single-thread and 40% more in multi-gread. In charts, the manufacturer states that the processor delivers up to 250% more frames per second by playing minecraft than Core Ultra 5 125U.
We have no forecast to launch the first Chromebooks actually equipped with Kompanio Ultra chips. MediaTek offered only a vague window of “next few months.”

However, King mentioned to PCWorld people that Google should talk again at Chromebooks at its Google I/O event, which happens in May. It seems like a tip that we can see any of the first devices with Kompanio Ultra in the presentation.
Finally, MediaTek stressed that the new line is exclusive for Chromebooks, so when you decide to compete with Snapdragon X on PCs the company will present another series of processors.
