A man who ordered an anti-drone rifle from China was arrested in RJ last Monday (15). The person responsible for the illegal import was arrested in flagrante delicto by the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue Service at a post office in Vila de Cava, a neighborhood in the municipality of Nova Iguaçu, in Baixada Fluminense.
The arrest is the result of a joint operation by the Federal Police (PF) and the Federal Revenue Service, which identified the suspicious package. The Revenue Service informed the PF about the international shipment from China containing this rifle. This type of weapon has been used to monitor the airspace of communities and prevent the action of police drones or even rival factions. In RJ, drug traffickers are already using drones to throw grenades into communities.
Product was declared as a toy
According to the Federal Police, the man arrested for purchasing the weapon declared the object as a toy, bought in China, and that it would cost R$200, when converted to dollars. In fact, the order was actually an anti-drone rifle, estimated to cost between R$40,000 and R$50,000.
The possession, sale and use of anti-drone rifles are restricted and require authorization from the National Telecommunications Agency.
The man responsible for the purchase was taken to the PF headquarters in Nova Iguaçu, and later transferred to the José Frederico Marques public prison, in Benfica.
