And here we go with another unfortunate case of a person who bought a product and received something else; in fact, this time he didn’t receive anything, since the box was empty. A user on Reddit reported that he acquired a RTX 4090 already Amazon and received an empty box. Not even the packaging for the video card was included with what was delivered; only the outer cardboard box was sent, which would be the protective layer for the product he purchased.
The blow
As in many similar reports, the man was the victim of a store owner who ended up using the great showcase that is Amazon to commit a scam. Like other large platforms, Amazon works with the martekplace model, in which store owners register and can make their sales through interaction via the Amazon website or app.
In some situations, problems are reported with purchases that Amazon itself manages, such as the case that occurred in 2022, involving Maurício Takeda, son of the iconic cartoonist Maurício de Souza, creator of Turma da Mônica. He bought an RTX 3090 Ti, but received a package with jars full of sand. Takeda even sued Amazon.
Refund denied
In the case of the Reddit user, Amazon denied the refund request. Since the purchase was made through a marketplace, more precisely with the retailer “TKF Electronics Store”the e-commerce giant did not approve the refund. He has been trying for about a month. He even sent pictures of the empty box, next to the person responsible for the delivery, and also recorded a video, but the request was denied.

Not only did he not get a refund, his account was banned, so he was unable to leave a negative review about his purchase. Given the outcome of the case, he decided to expose his situation on Reddit. “Don’t be like me, don’t be fooled,” the user says in the post.
Among the comments, some people suggested that he contact the card operator to cancel the purchase.
