A user of the Reddit He wanted a case that would perfectly accommodate the parts for his configuration but couldn’t find one, so he decided to design it, following a design line that divides opinions in the world of PC customization: the use of wood.

The project’s starting point was perfect integration with the RTX 4080 Super, that this user has had since launch.

Another all wood ITX SFFPC! This time, it’s water cooled…. 240mm/280mm Rad, 4080 Super, 7900X3D, 12.6L

He explains that he ended up buying a FormD T1 case, that was used in this compact configuration by another userbut couldn’t get the graphics card and custom cooling block to fit perfectly. He then went for an entirely custom design, with a case that he considers to be ideal for good airflow in such a tight component arrangement. Arriving at this result, which he classified as an “ITX case puzzle”.

Check the configuration below:

  • Motherboard: Mini-ITX ASUS ROG B650E-I Strix Gaming Wi-Fi;
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D;
  • RAM memory: 64 GB (2x 32 GB) Flare X5 Series DDR5-6000;
  • Video card: NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super;
  • Storage: 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD and 2TB Adata XPG SX8200 Pro;
  • Power supply: Corsair SFX750 SFX;
  • Watercooler: customized.

The project manager says it would be a dream to get to a stage where he could sell these custom cases. But he says he still needs to tweak a few more design points to accommodate a larger number of configurations, as well as refine the usability aspect, before he can think about selling them.

He also stated that he did not notice any damage or deformation of the wood in relation to the heat generated by the components. This is not the first time he has built a case of this type. In a previous project, he said he used it for about 6 months normally and nothing happened.
