Maingear has unveiled its latest gaming notebook, the ML-17, this week. The device has a more discreet design than is usually seen in this segment, but the hardware will ensure performance that is well above average.
The ML-17, as the name suggests, features a 17.3” display that is G-Sync compatible. The resolution is QHD (2560 x 1440p) and the frequency reaches 240Hz. Underneath the “modest” chassis, we have a 14th generation Intel Core i9 14900HX and an RTX 4090 for notebooks.
Using top-of-the-line components, the manufacturer also highlights the cooling solution for its notebook. The ML-17 incorporates two fans and nine heat pipes to dissipate heat, which can escape through four different outlets, located on the back and sides of the device. The body is made entirely of metal.
“This notebook delivers a high-end gaming experience that rivals the high-performance desktop-style gameplay that gamers demand, all in a backpackable form factor,” said Wallace Santos, CEO of Maingear.
Advanced connectivity
Following the trend of cutting-edge hardware, the notebook also features advanced connectivity technologies. Thus, the device is compatible not only with Wi-Fi 7, but also Thunderbolt 5. Jason Ziller, a representative for Intel, took the opportunity to highlight the company’s connection:
“The ability to connect two high-frequency 6K displays, or a single 6K or 8K display, along with high-speed data transfers and power delivery, means users can enjoy an immersive gaming experience and tackle intensive productivity tasks,” he said. “Thunderbolt 5 ensures that the ML-17 is not only a powerhouse today, but also ready for the future.”
Maingear ML-17: memory and price
Maingear’s new beefy notebook doesn’t offer different processor or GPU options, but it may vary in price due to memory. Interested users will be able to choose between options up to 64GB of RAM and up to three different Gen 4 SSDs, each with 4TB. Prices start at US$ 3,899, which is approximately R$ 21,960 at the current exchange rate.
