Loongson reinforces promise for Intel’s 13th generation performance in his 3B6600 CPU

Chinese processor manufacturer Loongson has stated at a recent meeting with investors that her 3B6600 CPU will deliver comparable performance with 12th and 13th generation Intel processors. This is not the first time the company has made this promise.

In August last year, 2024, Loongson’s own founder and director, Hu Weiwu, made exactly the same statement, comparing the 3B6600 with CPUs of the families Alder Lake and Raptor Lake. Apparently the Chinese company is aiming at something intermediate, in the order of Core i5 and Core i7.

In addition to the comparison not being made with Intel’s most powerful CPUs, we are still talking about 4 -year -old processors. But this would still represent an important advance for the LOONGSON 3B6600 compared to 3a6000.

According to Tom’s Hardware, the new Loongson processor should feature a 2.5GHz clock, the same as the previous generation, but with boost clock. Thus, the 3B6600 can reach up to 3GHZ, an increase of 20%. In addition, it supports DDR5, PCIE 4.0 and HDMI 2.1.

Loongson can launch the 3b6600 this year

The company publicly talked about its new processor since April 2024, and has plans to launch it in 2025. Until then, Intel must be reaching its next generation processors with its Panther Lake components, making the 3B6600 more like lagged yet.

In addition, Loongson, like other Chinese companies, faces US sanctions that prevent the importation of advanced components and technologies that could accelerate the development of their products.

However, Loongson has shown a rapid development of its processors without the same decades of expertise as its western competitors enjoy.
