In the race for ever-increasing speed numbers in DDR5 memories, Lexar has launched a new model that tries to stand out due to its low latency. Thus, the manufacturer’s Ares modules feature RGB lights and their performance is estimated at 6,000MT/s, but their CAS latency reaches numbers as small as 26.
The memories are compatible with AMD’s EXPO profile. However, it’s because of latency, not speed, that Lexar says its new modules are the “ideal choice for Ryzen 7 9800X3D.” The company says the components can especially improve the Low 1% frame rate in games.
Lexar also says that its new DDR5 Ares memories can help achieve up to 10% better performance than modules with CL30 latency.
The new memory modules are not compatible with overclocking, having their voltage locked at 1.45V, to deliver 6,000MT/s. In this configuration, the timings of the new Lexar kit are CL26-36-36-68.
The company only announced a 32GB kit (2x16GB), for a suggested price of 899 yuan. At the current price, this is approximately R$746.
Lexar tries to differentiate itself on latency
As the DDR5 generation of memories becomes more popular, the new CKD controller present in some of these modules also becomes popular. This is a component especially aimed at maintaining stability at high overclocking numbers, present in CUDIMM-DDR5 modules.
With the new possibilities brought by technology, memory manufacturers are racing to promote modules with impressive speeds. In addition to record numbers in extreme overclocking conditions, we have several memories promising performance of around 9,000MT/s.

However, latency in these cases is often sacrificed. For comparative criteria, for example, ADATA recently validated new memories at 9,200MT/s, with timings varying depending on the motherboard, but always above 40. This is yet another metric that the user must pay attention to when choosing suitable memories for its specific use.
