Lexar announced this week the launch of two new portable SSDs aimed at everyday use or simple office tasks. Both the SL300 and ES3 connect via the USB 3.2 Gen2 interface to offer read speeds of up to 1,050MB/s, with write speeds reaching 1,000MB/s.
In visual terms, Lexar’s two new drives are very similar, differing only by color. Both come with a somewhat long rectangular case, with the company name written in the middle. The SL300 is housed in a black housing, while the ES3 is silver.
Lexar’s two new external SSD models offer drop protection from up to 2 meters in height, but damage from falls is not covered under warranty. The SL300 brings extra protections that the ES3 does not offer, being IP54 certified for resistance against water and dust.
“These are excellent drives for everyday tasks at home or for busy professionals at work,” said one of the Lexar executives. “Both feature agile speeds that help drive efficiency and plug-and-play convenience to work with a wide range of devices.”
Pricing and availability of new Lexar drives
Lexar’s new portable SSDs now appear on the company’s official website. The ES3 is now available in the USA, only in 2TB capacity, for a suggested price of US$ 180. This is approximately R$ 1,091 at the current price.
The SL300, in turn, arrives in mid-December in two capacity options. The 1TB drive will cost US$110 (R$667), while the 2TB SSD sends the price to US$180 as well.

Interestingly, Lexar’s new products offer the same performance as the Go Portable, which is smaller and even comes with a USB port. Obviously, there is a big price difference between the products.
