Lenovo may launch a new Legion Go Gen 2 with SteamOS and Ryzen Z2 Extreme

Lenovo is preparing a new version of the Legion Go Gen 2 to present at CES 2026, according to rumors. The Windows Latest website states that the company intends to show a variant of its laptop equipped with SteamOS and a Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor.

The currently available Legion Go Gen 2 already has options with the standard Ryzen Z2 and the Ryzen Z2 Extreme, but apparently Lenovo opted only for the most powerful component for the SteamOS variant. The memory must be kept at 32GB LPDDR5X of RAM, accompanied by 2TB of storage on an NVMe SSD via the PCIe interface.

In other words, apparently Lenovo just wants to bet on changing the operating system from Windows 11 to SteamOS as an attraction for the new version of its laptop. This may be an indication that the Legion Go S with Valve’s system met the company’s expectations.

Thus, the Legion Go Gen 2 could be Lenovo’s second device with SteamOS, marking another option outside of the Steam Deck for laptops with the system – of which there aren’t that many yet.

The Legion Go Gen 2 with Windows 11 and Ryzen Z2 Extreme was announced for $1,099 at launch. Here in Brazil, the device can be found for R$ 24,452 in promotional value.

Theoretically, a version with SteamOS could arrive at a more affordable cost, since it is not necessary to license the system with Microsoft. However, in the last quarter we have seen a rise in prices for almost every device, which is expected to continue next year, due to inflated memory values.

If the device is indeed announced at CES 2026, its price may already be revealed. Meanwhile, it’s worth remembering that Windows 11 has been trying to compete with the SteamOS experience by offering the Xbox Fullscreen Experience, which is coming soon even to desktop PCs.
