High-resolution photos published by Evan Blass on his X account, formerly Twitter, and shared by The Verge, reveal an important detail about Lenovo’s black Legion Go S portable console. The device appears to include a dedicated button for launching Steam, a feature previously only seen on the Steam Deck.
However, it is unclear whether this indicates that the system runs SteamOS or if the button simply opens the Steam app. It is speculated that Lenovo will launch a version with Steam OS.
Photos shared by Evan Blass show that the Legion Go S will be available in black and white. Previously, only the white version had appeared online, called “Glacier White”.

The white “Glacier White” model does not appear to have this button. Exactly this detail that suggests that Lenovo may be working on a specific version for SteamOS or releasing several variants with different color options and operating systems.
Using a SteamOS could reduce system cost as it would eliminate the need for a Windows 11 license. Since the hardware except the button would remain the same, it is reasonable to expect that users could install Windows or even dual-boot themselves. choose.
Additionally, the target audience for the device appears to be primarily Steam users.
Rumors and Expectations
Lenovo has yet to officially confirm the product, but many expect the announcement to take place during CES 2025. And recently, Valve introduced new logo guidelines, including a “Powered by SteamOS” label, designated for hardware running SteamOS.
The Legion Go S is particularly suited to a SteamOS system as it is expected to feature the Ryzen Z2 Go APU with RDNA2 graphics — the same graphics architecture as the Steam Deck. However, the Legion device would have 50% more GPU cores and faster Zen3+ CPU cores.
If this rumor is confirmed, it could potentially shake up the portable console market in 2025.
Specifications
According to the information, the Legion Go S will be a more affordable portable console, using older AMD architecture (Zen 3+ and RDNA 2). It will have a smaller 8-inch screen, compared to the 8.8-inch screen on the original Legion Go.
It will also no longer have removable gamepads, adopting a more ergonomic design similar to the ASUS ROG Ally. The console will come powered by the AMD Ryzen Z2 APU.
