Kingston has unveiled another SSD model this week, the NV3. The new storage drive from the famous brand connects via the PCIe 4.0 interface to offer speeds of up to 6GB/s – depending on the capacity.
Sales for the Kingston NV3 officially begin this week, starting on August 5th. It is a simple drive without a heatsink, for everyday use. There are different storage options, each with their own estimated performance, check them out below:
- 500GB
5,000MB/s read | 3,000MB/s write - 1TB
6,000MB/s read | 4,000MB/s write - 2TB e 4TB
6,000MB/s read | 5,000MB/s write
Something that also stands out about Kingston’s new NV3 drives is their durability. The entry-level model comes in at 160TBW, while the following ones reach 320TBW, 640TBW and 1,280TBW, following the growth in capacities, respectively.

The absence of a heatsink helps ensure an especially small M.2 SSD in the case of the NV3. It measures just 22 x 80 x 2.3mm, weighing 7g, a good choice for those looking for portability in particular. However, a heatsink may be missing.
Kingston NV3 now available for $50
Although the new drives haven’t been officially launched yet, they’re already appearing in some stores in the US. The folks at Tom’s Hardware found 500GB and 1TB models costing $50 and $69.82, respectively.
The values, however, may be incorrect or may only be used as an example, to be replaced by the official numbers later.
Finally, Tom’s Hardware points out that the NV3 succeeds a drive that didn’t fare well in the site’s tests. The popular NV2 was criticized for overheating and delivering “underperformance,” something that may have been fixed for the NV3, but only post-launch testing will confirm whether or not the new drives are worth it.
