The RPG will be released on August 20th Black Myth: Wukongand the Chinese studio Game Science released a few days ago a benchmark tool that gives gamers the opportunity to evaluate how well their PC will handle the title.

Some reports already circulating on the internet show that some 13th and 14th generation Intel processor units are experiencing problems when trying to run the tool. Crashing at the shader compilation stage. In other words, the benchmark doesn’t even open.

The game’s official page even mentions this case of instability with Intel chips.

“Some players have reported that certain 13th/14th Gen Intel CPUs may have stability issues that can cause “Not Enough Video Memory” errors during shader compilation. Here are two methods you can try to resolve this:

(1) Underclock your CPU: Check for advice from Intel or your motherboard manufacturer about stability issues. You may need to underclock your CPU. (Click here for the official tool.)

(2) Skip shader compilation: You can also choose to skip shader compilation, but without underclocking, we cannot guarantee that the benchmark tool will run smoothly. Devices that crash during shader compilation may also crash randomly during gameplay or when using the benchmark tool.”

Therefore, the official suggestion is to reduce the chip’s operating clock. Among the chips that are showing instability with the tool, some reports mention the following: Core i7-13700K/KF e Core i7-14700K/KF.

Intel and the instability of 13th and 14th generation chips

Some motherboard manufacturers have already started releasing updates microcode to prevent perfectly functioning 13th and 14th generation chips from experiencing instability problems. It is worth remembering that the update does not fix the issue on chips that already face performance damage.

Processors with performance issues, caused by high chip operating voltage due to a microcode algorithm that makes incorrect voltage requests to the CPUwill have permanent damage. You will need to request an RMA to replace the processor. Intel has also extended the warranty for 13th and 14th generation chips that are unstable by 2 years.
