Following its new era of big cats, Intel may be readying a new series of processors for 2025, codenamed Wildcat Lake. A shipping manifest from October has only now been found, mentioning the tentative name of this yet-to-be-revealed CPU family.
The information comes from X86 is dead&back, on social media. An image capture of the shipping manifest shows some socket details for Wildcat Lake, and based on this information speculation has already begun about what to expect for the new series of Intel CPUs.
Apparently, these CPUs will fit into the low-power segment for affordable devices. In other words, they can appear on Chromebooks, NAS, mini PCs and other similar products. This would make Wildcat Lake an important successor to the Alder Lake (N100) series, which is already three years old.
Not only that, but these chips are also expected to be manufactured in Intel’s much talked about 18A process, already determined for Panther Lake. If the information is confirmed, these will be the first two families of domestic CPUs produced in this process. A third series of processors was also confirmed at 18A, but it is a Xeon line for professional use, currently known as Clearwater Forest.
Unofficial information about Wildcat Lake processors, mentioned by Tom’s Hardware, points to a P+LPE configuration for the CPUs. More precisely, there is talk of two P Cove cores and four Darkmont LPE cores. It would be a similar combination to what we already saw in Lunar Lake.
This raises questions of what other similarities Wildcats might have to Lunar Lake. Integrated memories, however, should not be one of them. since Intel itself admitted that this attempt was not the best.
Related news:
The manufacturer heavily promotes Lunar Lake over its integrated Xe2 graphics. The Xe3 generation is expected to make its debut in late 2025, appearing in Panther Lake, so it could possibly be used for Wildcat Lake as well.
