Intel could become Nvidia’s newest manufacturing partner as soon as next month, according to rumors. Unofficial reports suggest that the RTX maker will turn to IFS (Intel Foundry Services) to meet its growing need for manufacturing advanced AI components.
The information comes from the Chinese website MyDrivers, via WCCFTech. According to the rumors, as early as next month we may see Intel start offering wafer “packaging” for Nvidia to use in its H100 chips. Even numbers are mentioned, talking about 5,000 units per month – which would be more than TSMC currently offers.
This would allow Nvidia to take advantage of Intel’s Foveros 3D manufacturing technology, while its components are currently packaged by TSMC’s CoWoS-S. Rumor has it that the green company would be very interested in this change to test its competitor’s process.
This is sudden news that should be taken with a grain of salt, as with all rumors. However, the information does not seem far from reality, since Intel has been looking to become a chip factory for third parties as well. This is also why the company has been investing heavily in new facilities around the world for this purpose.
If the rumors are true, the partnership with the AI giant could be a major lifeline for Intel. The company has been struggling to recover.

In addition to the stagnation or even declines in its financial reports in recent times, the company has to deal with the much-publicized problems with its most recent generations of processors. As part of its efforts, Intel announced this week that it would lay off 15% of its employees worldwide.
While Nvidia is a competitor to Intel in many segments, this type of partnership may prove necessary to save the company’s cash flow.
