Intel has revealed an image for what will be its first processor manufactured in 18A. Currently known by the codename Clearwater Forest, the CPU will mark the debut of the new process in an unprecedented Xeon series, expected for 2025. In the image, we can see the still incomplete component.

According to WCCFTech, what we see in the middle of the processor are three computational tiles, each with 96 E cores, accompanied by two IO tiles on the edges. It’s a total of 288 cores, the maximum expected for the 18A-based Xeon line, according to rumors.

It is evident that the component is somewhat larger in size, equipped with so many cores. On another occasion, Intel commented that Clearwater Forest will be the “first of many” products based on 18A. The processor can now be turned on and follows the roadmap for its launch next year.

“Clearwater Forest for servers, which also includes Foveros Direct and other key advanced packaging capabilities, is up and looking very healthy. These are the first of many Intel 18A products on the path to bringing Intel 18A to the general market,” said Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel.

Intel has many expectations for the 18A

The 18A process is one of the most important in Intel’s history. The company invested heavily in its technology, in order to make considerable progress and stand out among its competitors, which normally increases the weight of its launch.

However, the company’s current situation raises expectations for 18A. Intel needs a successful launch to help clear its name and reignite interest in its shares. In addition, the process will be used to manufacture chips for customers and partners, directly helping to improve Intel Foundry’s revenue.

More about Intel and its new process:

Despite rumors about failed tests at Broadcom, other news about 18A has been positive for Intel. In addition to the company itself repeatedly promoting that the process is progressing as expected, they also secured an important investment from the US army to supply chips with the technology.
