Intel earlier this year launched the more affordable “non-K” models of its Intel Core Ultra 200S series of processors for desktop PCs. Their most affordable model appeared as the Core Ultra 3 205, with 8 cores and just 57W TDP. However, this CPU option has “mysteriously disappeared” from the official website.
The information comes from VideoCardz, who received the tip from one of their readers. The website already had screenshots of all the new Intel Core Ultra 200S models listed, so we can see the details of the Core Ultra 3 205 in the image below. To repeat, these screenshots were taken from Intel’s own official website, confirming this SKU that it would be the company’s cheapest 200S.
We can see that the Core Ultra 3 205 would feature 4 Lion Cove cores for performance and 4 Skymont cores for efficiency. Additionally, the 57W TDP is below the 65W standard on other CPUs in the lineup. VideoCardz explains that this reduced energy demand aligns the CPU with the old Pentium and Celeron, so the Ultra 3 205 would essentially be their new version, with Intel’s current nomenclature.
Has the Intel Core Ultra 3 205 been cancelled?
Since Intel did not explain the reasons for removing its cheapest desktop 200S from the listing on its official website, doubts remain about the future of the processor. One possibility is that the Core Ultra 3 205 has been canceled for good, while another is that the company intends to launch it later and ended up accidentally revealing the product too soon.
Related news:
Intel appears interested in promoting its K-less Core 200S line first to the Asian market, according to information from VideoCardz. The website states that the company first sent review samples to the region, and this is yet another reason why the media doesn’t comment so much about the line here.
The launch of the line is relatively recent, so perhaps in the coming weeks Intel will talk about the Core Ultra 3 205 again, if the product has not been cancelled.
