Intel launches Xeon 6500p and 6700p with up to 86 performance cores

Intel announced this week several new processors in the Xeon 6500p and Xeon 6700p series in its generation Granite Rapids. They are components with up to 86 performance cores, facing a wide range of systems – from machines with a single processor to 8P advanced systems.

The new series are inserted just below the Xeon 6900p, available earlier. As the focus of the 6500p and 6700p is to reach the largest number of customers, in addition to sockets 1S and 2s, they are also compatible with 4s and 8s. TDP products starts from 150W in input components up to 350W on the most advanced models with 86 nuclei.

Intel Xeon 6500P and 6700P are compatible with up to 4TB of DDR5 memory, supporting DDR5-5200 (2 DPC), DDR5-6400 and (1 DPC) and DDR5-8000 MRDIMM (1 CPD). Processors are also compatible with up to 88 PCIE lanes in multi-socket systems, while in single-socket, 136 lanes are reached.

The Skus list is very extensive, as the tables show in images released by Intel. The most expensive model is the Xeon 6788p, with 86 cores and up to 3.2GHz in Boost Clock, and costs $ 19,000. Meanwhile, among the new products, the most affordable is 6505p, with 12 cores, Boost up to 3.9GHz, leaving for $ 563.

In addition to scalability and high nuclei count, Intel promotes its new processors for professional use for its resource called TDX Connect.

Technology allows an encrypted connection between the CPU and PCIe devices – such as video cards – for direct memory access. Thus, it is possible to process confidential data directly by the GPU, which can be especially advantageous in times when the Ia has been so promoted.
