According to a leak on the ASUS forums for its motherboards, Intel is already working on a new patch for the Z890 chipset. The fix currently appears as 0x114, and users hope it will bring some performance gains to the Core Ultra 200S series of processors.
The person who first noticed the conversations about patch 0x114 was HXL (@9550pro), an account known for its reliable leaks on social media. In addition to posting a compilation with some comments about Intel’s update, the person behind the leaks also mentions the possibility of improvements in the performance of the Core Ultra 200S.
HXL says that this patch should bring some performance optimization because “there aren’t many days left in early December”. The comment references a statement from an Intel representative in November, in which a promise of some fix for CPU performance was made earlier this month.
Intel’s latest patch should be made available through the next BIOS update for its Z890 boards. Rumors raise the possibility of it being an update still in beta or a finalized mainstream version.
Intel Core Ultra 200S: more efficiency, less performance
The current generation of Intel processors has made considerable improvements in efficiency, but users have not welcomed the sacrifices in performance. Even more so taking into account that the performance of the CPUs fell short of the company’s own estimates, which placed Arrow Lake with performance at least similar to Raptor Lake, using less energy.
Therefore, even though patch 0x114 offers improvements in the performance of the Intel Core Ultra 200S, it is important to keep expectations under control. The main attraction of these processors, for those interested, must still be their efficiency.
