Intel this week released important details about the performance and stability of its new line of processors Core Ultra 200S. Launched at the end of October, with the codename Arrow Lake-Sprocessors brought notable advances in multi-threading performance, energy efficiency, input/output (I/O) interface e capacidade de overclocking.

Despite these new developments, the analyzes presented divergent conclusions about gaming performance, with significant statistical variations between different tests. These results contrasted with data obtained from Intel’s internal tests.

Thus, it faced harsh criticism due to instability problems in its CPUs. 13th and 14th generationswhich now presents advances with software updates to mitigate errors.

Problems found and fixed

In recent months, many users have reported instabilities on Intel CPUs, especially in high performance and overclocking situations.

Intel investigated the causes and corrected four of the top five reported issuesAn in-depth study of the causes of these errors was covered here at Adrenaline, where we detail advances in identifying and fixing bugs.

The microcode update developed for the newest processors brought significant improvements in stability. Preliminary tests now suggest that Intel has managed to resolve the issue that hampered experiences in demanding tasks such as gaming and video editing.

Below, we list the problems identified and how each one was fixed:

1. Missing PPM Package

  • Error: o Performance & Power Management (PPM) it was misconfigured in Windows Update, leading to power management and latency issues.
  • Correction: Updates in Windows 11 (build 26100.2161) resolved the issue, restoring proper parameters for processor behavior.

2. Intel APO Not Working

  • Error: o Intel Application Performance Optimizer (APO) could not apply optimizations in games due to incorrect system state.
  • Correction: The new Windows update also fixed the setting, allowing APO to properly optimize gaming performance.

3. BSOD when starting games with Easy Anti-Cheat

  • Error: conflicts between Windows 11 24H2 and driver Easy Anti-Cheat resulted in blue screens (BSOD) when launching games.
  • Correction: Epic Games updated the Easy Anti-Cheat driver, resolving the incompatibility through game updates.

4. Incorrect performance settings in BIOS

  • Error: Some critical BIOS settings (such as Intel APO and PCIe Resizable BAR) were misadjusted or disabled during initial testing.
  • Correction: Intel has already harmonized these settings in Current BIOS for Z890 motherboards, restoring optimal performance.

5. Pending BIOS optimizations

  • Error: Some BIOS performance optimizations were not implemented at release.
  • Correction: Intel plans to release a new BIOS update in January 2025, bringing additional optimizations for games and applications.

Next steps

With the advances brought by the new line Core Ultra 200SIntel wants to recover the damage to the brand to maintain its excellent position in the high-performance market, bringing a more stable and efficient solution.

While there are still challenges to be faced, as mentioned in our reviews, current testing confirms that Intel is on the right path to regaining consumer trust.

Intel outlined the following checklist:

  1. Fixed 4 of the top 5 issues, restoring full functionality. (Completed)
  2. Immediate availability of updates via Windows Update and BIOS. (Completed)
  3. New firmware update planned for January 2025.
  4. Variable performance depending on user’s game configuration and hardware.
  5. Detailed report with new benchmarks scheduled for CES 2025.
  6. Implementation of new practices to avoid similar problems in the future.

We will continue to closely monitor the updates provided by Intel here at Adrenaline and will publish all the news as soon as they are released by the company, keeping our readers always informed about advances and improvements in the performance of Intel Core Ultra 200S CPUs.
