Although problems with instability of 13th and 14th Generation Intel CPUs are seen more frequently on desktops, new reports indicate that crashes also occur on servers and notebooks that have these lines of processors.
A developer at Alderon Games took to Reddit to point out that they have also had issues with mobile devices using the manufacturer’s latest CPUs.
Yes, we have had several notebooks fail with the same crashes. It is just a little rarer than the failures we see in desktop CPUs.
While many have theorized that Intel’s CPU instability issue could be related to some issue with the LGA-1700 SoC, the comment suggests that the issue could be even more complicated than that. The developer claimed that nearly 100% of its Raptor Lake processors crashed in subsequent comments.
It’s important to note that the Alderon Games dev did not specify which CPU models he used in his notebooks, but it’s estimated that the instability can be seen in most Intel Core i9 HX chips.

Intel is far from a resolution
As of this writing, Intel has not provided any information about the cause of the problem or how to prevent it from happening. Its actions have been limited to microcode updates to prevent high power consumption, as well as BIOS changes and updates to fix bugs with eTVB – however, none of these have actually resolved the instability.
Initially, energy consumption was suspected, but the fact that the error also occurs on notebooks and servers with W680 motherboards shows that the situation may be even more complex and that there is no solution in sight for consumers.
The changes Intel has made to reduce instability by changing the default power consumption settings on motherboards may help limit the problem – however, if there are other causes for the crashes, it will take more than that to resolve the situation.
What worries the public the most is the randomness of the instability in Intel Raptor Lake and Meteor Lake CPUs. Some complain about crashes under certain conditions, while many others point out that they also occur in other ways. Without answers, the situation will only get worse – both for consumers and for the manufacturer.
