The 14th generation of Intel Core processors (Raptor Lake Refresh) recently received a new series, with a lineup that only features performance cores. Therefore, the Core i9-14901KE and its cores outperform the top-end SKU of the Alder Lake generation.

The Intel Core 14001E processors were released only for the embedded and commercial markets, so they are not for sale to the general consumer. There are 11 CPUs ranging from the Core i5 to i9 series.

In Geekbench 6, the Intel Core i9-14901KE delivered 3,018 points in single-core and 16,308 points in multi-core. Both results put the top-of-the-line SKU of the series ahead of the i9-12900KS which scored 2,672 and 16,104, respectively.

Remembering that the improvement involving one core is not that surprising, since this happens due to the evolution in IPC between the two generations, but the greater performance with multiple cores is impressive, especially since it has half the cores of the Alder Lake CPU.

In terms of overall single-core performance, the Core i9-14901KE’s score puts it in the top five on Geekbench, alongside other 13th and 14th Gen Intel Core Raptor Lake CPUs. When it comes to multiple cores, the SKU drops significantly in the rankings.

Intel launched the Core i9-14901KE and the other processors in the new lineup at a time when the company is experiencing a crisis with instability problems in its recent processors for desktop PCs, caused by oxidation during the manufacturing process.
