Intel has officialized its plans for the Handheld Gamer market with the future launch of the Panther Lake and Arrow Lake-H CPUS.

According to Robert Hallock, vice president and general manager of the company, the goal is to expand the provision of processor for mobile devices and strengthen support for manufacturers of this expanding niche.

Current models with Meteor Lake and Lunar Lake chips already show Intel’s potential in this segment, but the new CPUs promise to raise further performance.

The Panther Lake, scheduled for launch in the second half of 2025, is already in the testing phase. The new generation is considered a direct evolution of Lunar Lake, but brings significant changes such as the removal of integrated memory into the package.

This will allow portable device manufacturers to change the capacity and memory configuration, delivering devices more adjusted to the demands of different users.

According to Hallock, these changes will also bring gains in energy efficiency, crucial factor for portable devices.

Panther Lake is essentially a direct successor than lunar [Lake] It’s doing. A new era in the Apus market

Arrow Lake-H chips, also confirmed for handhelds, promise to compete directly with AMD solutions, which has dominated the market for years with their personalized apus.

The introduction of technologies such as the 5th generation NPU and the company’s recent recent growth, according to the second largest increase in 2025, show how Intel is shaping its future more prudently.

In addition, recent leaks on Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake indicate that the company is betting strong in innovation to stand out in the next generation of hardware.

Flexible solution promise for manufacturers

Robert Hallock also highlighted the Panther Lake differential by removing the integrated memory of the package, making the platform more flexible. “This makes life easier for manufacturers, allowing them to adjust memory as needed and enjoy technologies that compensate for the removal of integrated memory, saving energy,” during the exclusive interview for Laptop Mag.

With these changes and Intel’s direct support to developers, the future of Handhelds Gamer promises to bring more options and performance to the market, challenging AMD dominance and offering new possibilities to consumers.

This internal effort, described by Hallock as “a number one priority for 2024 and 2025,” connects with the strategy of expanding its presence in the Intel Arc discrete GPUS market, offering more customization possibilities for manufacturers and developers.
