A new day, new rumors about an Arc B770. This time we have a PCI-SIG update generating speculation about a possible new Intel Arc Battlemage. The institution’s website that standardizes the PCIE interface now lists an Intel GPU with PCIE 5.0 at X16.

To understand why this raises speculation, it is important to remember Battlemage’s compatibility trajectory with PIE. For a long time, before the official announcement of B570 and B580, it was expected that the new Intel plates would be compatible with PCIE 5.0, the latest commercial version of the interface.

However, in the announcement of the new models in December 2024, Intel revealed that its current generation of dedicated video cards is limited to PIE 4.0. The decision is mainly explained because available Battlemage only work with 8 PCIE Lanes.

The listing of a GPU in this 5.0 PCIE architecture operating in 16 lanes would then indicate a new video card for the series.

Could a new Battlemage sign be an Arc Pro B60?

The latest plates of the Battlemage line are the ARC Pro, for professional use. These are models compatible with PCIE 5.0, but still limited to 8 lanes of the connection, which still sets the PCI-SIG listing as a new plate.

There are, however, chances that this could be Maxsun’s Arc Pro B60 Turbo, confirmed to use two BGM-G21 GPUS. Besides her, Sparkle would also be working on such a model.

However, according to Videocardz, if it were the case, the name would not appear as an Intel plate in the table. The site believes this is indicative of a new GPU.

Expectations for an Arc B770 continue

For the reasons explained, Intel enthusiasts who still expect a more powerful Battlemage want to believe that PCI-SIG registration can be for a new GPU, the alleged BGM-G31.

This would be the variant possibly used in an Arc B770 if it exists one day. It would be an interesting change for the plate to adopt not only PCIE 5.0, but also its 16 lanes.
