The manufacturer of offices and varied components for the Hyte computer is the latest company to announce a shipping break to the US. The reason, as in other cases, is in the increasingly high rates of the country’s current administration.
Many Hyte products are manufactured in China, making them target the most heavy taxes. Cabinets specifically are temporarily exempt from tariffs, but the company still needs to pay other fees involved in selling these products, as well as tariffs in its other components, such as Fans and Coolers. In complete systems, taxes can be especially impeding.
Gamer Nexus published this week a video detailing the impact of tariffs on different smaller manufacturers, and Hyte was one of the interviewees. Representatives of the company detail how the Y40 cabinet, for example, has a profit margin of only 5%. Thus, any more aggressive fare would represent damage.
Hyte says it will honor the pre-sales already made and deliver orders from its customers in the US. However, all other shipments to the country were suspended indefinitely.
Hyte studies how to get around the tariffs
Like other US -affected companies against China, Hyte studies how to readjust its production chain to avoid taxes. Fabricating directly to Uncle Sam’s land is not among the options, however.
Rob Teller, product director for the company, participated in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit, and mentioned that the company considers it to take its manufacture to Vietnam and Thailand. Still, the company would face higher taxes, between 30% and 40%, which may result in an inevitable increase in the final value of its products.

Hyte became known for its products with bold designs and collaborations. In his same participation in Reddit, Teller also commented that he would love to collaborate with video game manufacturers as well. “A Sony Y80 would be too cool,” he says.
