HWMonitor received another update this week, which takes the monitoring software to version 1.61. The update brings support for some components not yet released, including “preliminary” compatibility with Medusa Point processors, AMD’s future series of APUs for notebooks based on Zen 6.

In addition to preliminary support for Medusa Point, the HWMonitor update also brings compatibility to the Ryzen 5 7500X3D, launched in November, and the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. Anyone who follows Adrenaline will have already seen a lot of news about the 9850X3D, which has already been leaked in every way, but which should only have its official confirmation at CES 2026.

The update brings news from Intel as well. The update lists support for Intel Core Ultra 9 290K Plus, Ultra 7 270K Plus and Ultra 5 250K Plus. In other words, the Arrow Lake Refresh line, which already appeared in a new beta version of HWMonitor last month. We also expect to see the official announcement of these processors at the technology event in January.

Medusa Point shouldn’t arrive anytime soon

The “preliminary” support for Medusa Point does not indicate that the processors are closer to launch.

This way of listing generally refers to the fact that the program is now able to detect initial IDs of APUs. Most likely, however, he doesn’t yet recognize business names because they haven’t even been established yet. Additionally, changes should be made to the way HWMonitor detects these processors until launch.

AMD has already confirmed that its first Zen 6 processors for notebooks are indeed codenamed Medusa Point, but apparently we are still some way away from their launch. The leak from at least one notebook manufacturer indicates that the processors will only make their debut in 2027.

That is if the current situation in the memory market does not cause changes in plans, including.
