This week HP surprised with the announcement of the Omnibook Ultra 14, its notebook that will arrive equipped with an AMD Ryzen AI 300 CPU and has as its main highlight its “fastest NPU on the market” with 55 TOPS.

However, several questions began to be raised, since the manufacturer’s fastest processor was the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 model – which has 50 TOPS of NPU. Considering that all AMD models will have the same NPU performance (using XDNA2), this version would become a new pinnacle for notebooks with artificial intelligence.

However, the Omnibook Ultra 14 may use a processor not yet officially revealed by the manufacturer in its line. The CPU-Z software was recently updated containing support for several “Strix Point” CPUs and one of them is the Ryzen AI 9 HX 375.

Initially, it was questioned whether this could be a typo, perhaps, but a week has passed since the change and support for the supposed processor is still there. In other words, this may not have been an error and may signal that the CPU may come in the future.

Whether HP’s Omnibook Ultra 14 will use the Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 or another unannounced model remains uncertain, but the existence of other models opens up space for the arrival of processors with greater NPU capacity – with 55 TOPS as described in the new notebook or even higher with improvements that can be made in the future.

The launch of the Omnibook Ultra 14

It is important to mention that although the Omnibook Ultra 14 stands out in terms of performance for artificial intelligence, it is not part of the so-called Copilot+ PCs.

Currently, only new laptops that use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X processors are being given this designation, with others being included at a later date. For AMD CPUs, Microsoft’s new AI features won’t arrive until later this year.

In addition to these two, Intel is also close to launching its new generation of mobile processors, the Lunar Lake line. These will arrive to compete with the Ryzen AI 300 and Snapdragon X in the domestic use of artificial intelligence.

HP will launch the Omnibook Ultra 14, its first with an AMD CPU, in August with a suggested price of $1,449.99.
