HKC has announced its plans to launch the M10 Ultra, a 32-inch, 4K, RGB Mini LED computer monitor, in 2026. RGB Mini LED panel technology is the latest addition to the world of displays and HKC beat the biggest TV and monitor companies to become the first to announce an RGB Mini LED monitor.

The M10 Ultra’s secret lies in its RGB Mini LED backlight system, which, according to an HKC press release, has “simultaneous control of light and color”. This level of control contrasts with the “single light control” of the standard Mini LED.

The panel developers also highlight the impressive 4,788 independent control zones on the M10 Ultra’s backlight.

RGB Mini LED, sometimes called Micro LED, is the next step in LED backlight technology. To understand what’s new about this technology, you need to remember that all display panels have color-emitting diodes supported by a backlight.

This backlight technology has been boosted in recent years by the Mini LED trend, which features smaller backlight LEDs and independently controlled dimming zones for better illumination and color accuracy.

Now, what if these mini LEDs were RGB, taking the backlight of the panels to full color and creating panels with greater color accuracy?

This is the proposal of RGB Mini LED whose only panels launched to date are from Samsung and Hisenseboth measuring around 115 inches and costing an impressive US$29,999 (R$163,542.55).

Feature MiniLED Tradicional RGB-MiniLED OLED
Technological principle Backlight control: blue LEDs + color filters (color conversion), backlight dependent Direct color control: red, green and blue LEDs as primary light source, no secondary conversion Does not use backlighting; self-emissive pixels
Color coverage ~85% BT.2020 >98% BT.2020 ~90% BT.2020
Brightness and energy efficiency Total brightness above 1000 nits, but with greater consumption as brightness increases Full brightness above 1000 nits with greater energy efficiency Around 250 nits full screen
Contrast and halo control (blooming) May have a halo effect in bright areas Purer blacks and precise light control, virtually no halo No backlight halo
Image quality Good, but limited by color conversion and zone control More accurate colors, greater chromatic purity and better uniformity Vivid colors, excellent contrast, but with brightness limitations
Durability / Service life No risk of burn-in, long service life No risk of burn-in, long service life and high stability There is a risk of burn-in over time

First of many?

HKC’s new M10 Ultra is the world’s first RGB Mini LED monitor announced. It is also the first RGB Mini LED display that fits on a desk.

The 31.4-inch screen has 4K resolution and will cover 100% of the BT.2020, sRGB, DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB color gamuts.

The company also reported that the monitor will support 3840 x 2160 resolution with a native refresh rate of 165Hz, plus a high refresh rate gaming mode that boosts the speed to 330Hz at 1080p.

Availability

HKC has not announced a release date or starting price for the monitor. For now, it is unlikely that a launch will happen outside of China.

As a brand, HKC is probably a new name to most Western readers, but the display semiconductor company has been one of the leading display technology companies in China for years.

Founded in 2001, the company has recently won several awards for its high qualitybecoming one of the largest TV manufacturers in the world in terms of sales volume.

However, something that could get in the way, however, is the price. At Kabum, the most expensive OLED monitors cost R$12,230.23 (Samsung With Quantum 49″) and R$10,999.99 Gigabyte 27″. And, just to finish the comparison, the cheapest gaming monitor costs R$224.99 17” LED Gamer Monitor.

Considering the price of 115″ RGB Mini panels at US$29,999 (R$163,542.55), even a small monitor can be very expensive and difficult to access.
