HANDS-ON of the ROG ALLY X laptop: it has changed a lot and promises

Adrenaline’s coverage of Computex 2024 continues, with content brought directly from Taiwan at the largest electronics fair in Asia. The new thing this time is the ROG Ally Xnew laptop from the ASUS gamer brand.

The model is the successor to the ROG Ally launched by the manufacturer in mid-2023. Even with little time to work between generations, the company listened to the public’s main criticisms and suggestions to present corrections to this new device.

What changes in ROG Ally X?

The ROG Ally X has a very different design from the previous generation, starting with the black color. You buttons, joysticks and triggers have been designed or repositioned to ensure greater ergonomics and even main input is now USB-C.

In terms of technical specifications, it comes with a new SSD up to 1TB of internal storage, a redesigned motherboard and 24GB RAM LPDDR5X-7500 standard (with the possibility of partial sharing of it with VRAM). The battery now has double the storage, reaching 80 Wh.

One of the few technical specifications maintained compared to the original is the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor. Furthermore, the model supports Windows 11 and, according to the company, it is “designed to run all games” is the platform.

The ROG Ally X has not yet had its launch confirmed in Brazil, but the first version was officially sold here. In the United States, the model is now on pre-sale for US$799.99 (or R$4.1 thousand in direct currency conversion).
