GPD Win 5 Portable with Apu Strix Halo wins official announcement; Check out the details

After some leaks and even a very complete hands-on, The new GPD Win 5 laptop finally received its official announcement on Thursday (14). According to the manufacturer, this is the most powerful hardware of the entire category, thanks to the presence of a new APU based on the AMD Strix Halo series.

Despite the name it carries, the new product does not have the physical keyboard or integrated battery that marked its previous generations. On the other hand, the device features a removable 80 H battery that can be changed quickly when its system is placed in hibernation.

According to the manufacturer, The GPD Win 5 is able to run games like Cyberpunk 2077 with high details at 70 FPS. It also lists good performances in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (71 fps), Baldur’s Gate 3 (75 FPS), Alan Wake 2 (60 FPS) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (75 FPS), noting that features like Ray Tracing can decrease the results obtained.

The product arrives with a capacitive Joystick immune to drifts, hall effects and 0.1 ms accuracy, response of less than 0.1 ms and the frostwind cooling system with double fans and four Heat pipes.

Although the manufacturer claims that the new hardware is now available, in practice it should only be released in September this year. In addition, so far the product does not have an official page dedicated to it, nor confirmation of its price – which is estimated at $ 1500, or just over $ 8,000 in a direct conversion.
