One of Google’s most interesting AI tools just got more… interesting. Functioning as a smart notebook, NotebookLM is now compatible with Deep Research, a feature originally created for Gemini that works as a personal research assistant.
To top it off, Google is adding compatibility with the Google Sheets service (Google Sheets) to NotebookLM, as well as integration with DOCX or PDF files stored directly in Google Drive.
NotebookLM is a service launched by Google in 2023 that uses generative artificial intelligence to help the user organize, summarize and access information, functioning as a digital and intelligent notebook.
The tool is useful for students or anyone who works with a wide variety of information, for example. The uses of NotebookLM increase as Google adds features to the service, such as the function that generates video summaries (until now, summaries were only generated in text and audio).
In this sense, Deep Research arrives to allow the user to have a kind of agent in NotebookLM capable of carrying out searches that produce detailed and organized results, as Google itself explains:
Deep Research takes your question, creates a research plan, and browses hundreds of sites for you, refining the search as it learns. In just a few minutes, it generates an organized, in-depth report based on reliable sources.
Content generated via Deep Research can still be refined with sources added by the user. After that, the user can summarize the results in text, audio or video, depending on their need or convenience.
It is worth remembering that, among the complementary content that can be added, there are now PDF and DOCX files stored in Google Drive, as well as images that the user has on their computer or mobile device.

Is Deep Research now available on NotebookLM?
Yes, for all users, including in Brazil. To access the new features, simply open or create a notebook in NotebookLM and go to “Search for new fonts on the web”. Finally, click or tap the button below to select between “Quick Search” (traditional) and “Deep Research” (the new feature).
