GMK Mini PC features Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with 70W TDP

GMK joined the list of manufacturers preparing a mini PC with Ryzen AI 300 (Strix Point). The company revealed its new Evo X1 – an especially compact computer that comes equipped with a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. But what really draws attention to the product is the APU’s TDP.

The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 in its factory configuration operates with power that results in a TDP between 15W and 54W. GMK boosted the processor in its mini PC to run at 70W. And the adjustment appears to have been made to mainly help with the performance of the integrated GPU.

The folks at VideoCardz point out that TDP gains typically don’t result in substantial performance improvements for AMD APUs. However, the increase in power supply could help stabilize clocks and mean an improvement for the Radeon 890M graphics integrated into the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 in the mini PC.

In this way, GMK promises performance similar to an RTX 2060 with the Evo X1 working only with an APU. Furthermore, the mini PC also offers an OCuLink connection, for those who want more performance through an external GPU.

GMK did not reveal the price of its new mini PC

GMK announced its new Evo X1 mini PC, but still did not want to talk about the product’s prices. In fact, other than the processor, the company hasn’t offered many details about the product.

However, several mini PCs with Ryzen AI 300 are expected to arrive later this month. Therefore, it is quite possible that GMK will offer more information about the Evo X1 in the coming weeks.

It will be interesting to check third-party tests with the product and see the difference, in practice, from the high TDP on the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370.
