MSI wanted to combine air and liquid cooling and produced the gigantic RTX 4090 Suprim Fuzion – a GPU with a massive 4.5-slot design.

The graphics card eliminates the tubes and external radiator of liquid coolers, integrating the solution below the hardware casing. It replaces the heatsink, with the pump, pipes and heat-plate reducing the temperature of the GeForce RTX 4090. The exhaust air that comes out of it will also help keep the PCG cool. The model also has two fans.

Inside the MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Fuzion, the user can attach a circular heatsink – connecting it to the radiator. On the GPU die, some heatsinks can be installed in important parts of the PCB that require direct cooling – such as GDDR6X memories.

The manufacturer points out that the GPU with Fuzion liquid cooler will bring 15% better performance compared to traditional air cooling technology. They also point out that the pipes are 90% smaller compared to the liquid models we have – where improvements must have been made to provide the necessary support for operations.

MSI has not released the specifications, benchmarks, price or release date of the RTX 4090 Suprim Fuzion GPU – however, this is expected to be the manufacturer’s most expensive GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card. It will be on display during Computex 2024.

Mystery over to MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Fuzion

The lack of details is something that intrigues the MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Fuzion, as the reason they chose copper to improve heat dissipation – with the use of individual heatsinks coupled to the liquid cooler instead of a large, single heatsink. It’s obvious that it will work properly, but just how well remains to be seen.

Furthermore, this will be the only Suprim model ever produced with two fans – instead of previous models that had three equipped (the 4090 Suprim X Liquid has a third fan on the video card itself). These particularities may define the scope of the hardware, but nothing seems to be defined.

The MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Fuzion may have an integrated liquid cooler, but this does not always translate into big leaps in performance. The 4090 Suprim X Liquid mentioned above, for example, brings lower results than an ASUS 4090 ROG Strix – according to tests presented by Tom’s Hardware.

Furthermore, the GPU will not be for everyone – considering that it has almost 5 slots, and it should not be “light” hardware – it would be important to consider the available space in your case and even check whether it would be advantageous to purchase a suitable support .
